Squash (Winter) - Butternut

We have never been successful in growing mature butternut squash, until we got a sample of seed from the seed exchange table at an event in Calgary, which produced for us, in 2024, a good yield of fairly mature fruits. Some variability in fruit size, shape, and slight colouration, but generally a tan skinned, long solid necked squash, with an enlarged bulb on the end containing seeds in a small seed cavity. High quality bright orange fleshed squash which keep well throughout the winter. First photo of our last fruit in April 2025.
