This rose family member has yellow five-petaled flowers on upright open plants to about 3'. The seeds have hooked styles in persistent, berry-sized heads. Once they start shedding seeds they should be removed to prevent excessive self-seeding. Common on prairies and meadows and open woods where there is enough moisture.
