Sugawara

Sugawara was bred by James Sugawara, a Japanese immigrant who operated a market garden in Vernon from the late 1920’s until about 1950. He bred his tomato in the late 1930’s. It was one of the local cultivars into which was bred verticillium resistance by Denby & Wooliams (Summerland, BC) in the early 1950’s.
