Papaver - Hen-and-Chicks-Poppy

This is a typical breadseed poppy with single mauve petals with a dark blotch in the center of each. The large central pod is surrounded by tiny pods, hence 'hen-and-chicks.' Striking in dried arrangements. Not all the plants have the chicks so, to maintain the quality of the seed, select seed each year from those plants with the most chicks.
